BLS (Basic Life Support) Providers

This American Heart Association BLS Provider course (formerly BLS for Healthcare Providers) teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics.

BLS Provider Instructor-led training is conducted in the classroom and features simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA approved Adventure Medics instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam.

This course is designed for individuals working in the healthcare industry. If you are unsure if you should be taking the BLS Provider course or another CPR course, ask your employer for clarification. If you work in the public sector you may only need to take a Heartsaver course.

(A BLS Provider blended learning courses includes an online portion and a hands-on portion. The online portion can be completed wherever students have Internet access. Upon successful completion of the online portion, students attend a hands-on Skills Session with an AHA approved Adventure Medics Instructor. Use the “Skills Session” link above to learn more about a BLS Provider blended learning course.)
