Why You Should Be Excited about a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Class! | Adventure Medics | Bend, Oregon

April 04, 2018

This two-day Adventure Medics Wilderness First Aid (WFA) class is a 16-hour course that covers medical and trauma emergencies in the remote setting. Upon completion of this course, not only will you receive an approved CPR/AED/First Aid card and WFA card, you will also learn some amazing and creative ways to provide emergency First Aid in remote settings with limited resources. This course includes a field exercise that will give you the opportunity to practice the hands-on skills and techniques learned in the classroom.

Adventure Medics can also customize the WFA course to cater to specific organizations who provide outdoor adventures. For example, for a white-water rafting company, we can tailor the course to adapt to specific emergencies one might encounter rafting down one of Central Oregon’s phenomenal rivers. Classroom portions would focus heavily on submersion injuries and head/leg trauma and field portions would include swift water environments with medical/trauma patients.

It is our mission to ensure that you leave us with a greater understanding of patient treatment and management in remote settings with the confidence to venture out on your next adventure with the skills needed to handle whatever nature throws at you.

Date: Typically, weekends (Saturday & Sunday)

Time: 8:00am – 6:00pm

Location: Adventure Medics 20585 NE Brinson Blvd #4, Bend, OR 97701; field trip to remote site depending on weather
